Football: 3 second-half goals seal the victory for the hosts in the first Group E match of World Cup qualifying
A tough day at the office for the young Lady Gombey Warriors, who opened their World Cup qualifying campaign on Friday with a 3-0 loss to host nation Trinidad.
With the teams deadlocked at the half, there seemed little to separate the two. But a goal from the hosts at the 66th minute opened the flood gates for Team Bermuda’s opponents. Trinidad would score again at the 78th and 91st minutes to seal the 3-nil victory.
And it doesn’t really get any easier from here. Bermuda’s next opponent has had our number in just about every sport not named pickleball. Canada appears to be in imperious form, having thrashed Dominica 22-nil – the 2nd highest score in Concacaf history.
The Bermuda – Canada match is scheduled for Sunday at 4pm.
