The Bermuda Economic Development Corporation (BEDC) is now accepting public nominations for the 10th Annual BEDC Business Awards. Nominations are open until October 31, 2026, ahead of the awards ceremony on January 30, 2027.
The BEDC Business Awards celebrate the achievements, growth, and thriving nature of Bermuda’s entrepreneurs. Every business honoured on awards night gets there because someone nominated them, which makes the nomination period the starting point for the whole programme.
Members of the public are asked to put forward a business of their choice in recognition of great service, a superior product, hard work, and growth. The businesses people turn to and rely on throughout the year are exactly the ones worth naming, and it takes only a few minutes to do it.
Those nominations feed into ten award categories:
- Business of the Year
- Start-up of the Year
- Entrepreneur of the Year
- Most Enterprising Young Entrepreneur
- Vendor of the Year
- Economic Empowerment Zone (EEZ) Business of the Year
- Family Business of the Year
- Customer Service Award
- Innovation & Tech Award, and
- People’s Choice Award.
The variety of categories recognises businesses of every size and stage. All nominees must be
Bermudian or Bermudian-owned, and each category carries its own criteria, so nominators
are encouraged to read them online before submitting
Tahkeesha Welch, Loan Portfolio Management Officer at BEDC and lead organiser of the event, said: “The BEDC Business Awards start with the public. Every nomination is someone in the community pointing to a business that has served them well, delivered quality, and earned their support. Those are the businesses we want in the room on awards night, and the only way they get there is if people take the time to nominate them.”
She continued, “Bermudian businesses work hard year-round, often without much recognition. Nominating is a simple way to make sure that work is seen and celebrated.”
That recognition is what keeps the awards going into a tenth year. The BEDC Business Awards continue to serve as a platform to celebrate local success stories, strengthen connections across the business community, and reinforce BEDC’s commitment to supporting
entrepreneurship at every stage.
