Historic El Niño-fueled hurricane drought continues

We’re now at the end of September, traditionally the heart of hurricane season, but something has been noticeably missing from the Atlantic this year — hurricanes.

While several tropical storms have formed, not one has managed to reach hurricane strength, making 2026 an exceptionally unusual season so far.

But does the quiet Atlantic mean Bermuda can finally relax?
