Gale strikes twice in four minutes to break Bermudian hearts

A devastating four-minute brace from talisman Thierry Gale condemned Bermuda to a dramatic 2-1 defeat against Barbados at the BFA Technical Centre in Bridgetown.

Following an attritional opening hour in the Caribbean heat, the Gombey Warriors looked set to claim regional bragging rights when Djair Parfitt expertly steered home an Enrique Russell cross in the 74th minute.

However, the lead evaporated almost immediately.

Gale produced an equaliser in the 78th minute to lift the home crowd, before pouncing once again in the 82nd to complete a ruthless turnaround.

Barbados dominated the statistical battle after the interval, generating 15 second-half attempts to overturn Bermuda’s disciplined defensive display.
