Mass General Brigham will host an upcoming Continuing Medical Education (CME) event in Bermuda focused on the assessment and management of sleep health and disorders across the lifespan.
Sleep Health at Every Age: Assessment and Management, will take place on Monday, 12 October 2026, at the Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute (BUEI), and will cover best practices for evaluating and treating sleep disorders in adults, children and adolescents. The event will also explore treatments for obstructive sleep apnoea and the importance of multidisciplinary approaches to caring for patients with sleep-related conditions.
Mass General Brigham and its member hospitals care for hundreds of Bermudian patients each year, working closely with local physicians to ensure patients receive high-quality care both on-island and in Boston. The organisation also visits Bermuda regularly to support local healthcare initiatives and strengthen partnerships with the island’s medical community.
The education event will feature presentations from three sleep medicine specialists from Mass General Brigham, covering adult sleep health, sleep in children and adolescents and treatments for obstructive sleep apnoea. The programme will conclude with an interactive panel discussion, Q&A and case discussions involving the visiting faculty and local providers. Following the educational programme, attendees will enjoy dinner catered by Harbourfront Restaurant with the presenters and Mass General Brigham international team.
Dr James Mojica – Course Director and Clinical Director and Vice Chief of the Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital, said: ‘Sleep problems are extremely common, but they are not always recognised or appropriately evaluated in clinical practice. We hope this programme gives Bermuda’s healthcare professionals practical tools for identifying sleep disorders, understanding the available treatment options and knowing when a patient may benefit from referral to a sleep specialist.’
Also presenting are Dr Bernard Kinane – Chief of the Pediatric Pulmonary Unit and Director of the Sleep Pediatric Program at Mass General Brigham for Children – who will discuss sleep in children and adolescents, and Dr Phillip Huyett – Director of Sleep Surgery at Mass Eye and Ear – who will present on treatments for obstructive sleep apnoea.
The event is free of charge and open to Bermudian general practitioners, family practitioners, family medicine specialists, paediatricians, pulmonary specialists, dental professionals treating sleep-disordered breathing and public health professionals. A maximum of 2.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ will be offered to physicians.
Healthcare professionals are encouraged to register in advance to attend the event and enjoy the complimentary dinner. Registration will also be available on the night, subject to availability. The educational programme begins at 5:30pm on Monday, 12 October at the BUEI Auditorium, with dinner following from 7:30pm.
