The Ministry of Justice today moved to clarify a situation surrounding the release of a sex offender.
Kevin Leon Goater is due to be released today – a fact contradicting an earlier public notice that was issued in error.
The date of release stated in a public notice as “May 2026” should have read June 2026.
Kevin Leon Goater, aged 66, will be released following a period of imprisonment after being convicted of unlawful carnal knowledge and intruding on the privacy of a person.
After consulting with the Commissioner of Police, the Ministry has determined that the public should be notified of the offender’s release date.
A spokesperson added, ” The Ministry can also confirm that the victim was notified in advance.”
Mr. Goater’s address was listed as Devonshire.
