Parents of Gilbert Institute students have launched a petition and are holding a demonstration on Monday to prevent the school’s closure.
The petition, hosted by change.org, states that “Gilbert Institute has consistently demonstrated its value over the years, standing not just as a hall of learning but as a sanctuary that nurtures and educates future leaders of our society.”
“…keeping its doors open is not just an option, but a necessity.”
Parents will also hold a demonstration on Monday morning 8:00-8:30am at the bus stop near Modern Mart in Paget.
A formal letter from parents has been sent to Minister of Education Diallo Rabain as part of the campaign.
Gilbert Institute is scheduled to close in summer 2025 as part of ongoing education reform, with plans to convert the property into a seniors’ daycare facility.
