Nia Christopher and Fort Lauderdale United FC part ways

Fort Lauderdale United FC have announced that the club and Bermudian forward Nia Christopher have mutually agreed to part ways. The move marks the departure of one of the few remaining “Originals” from the club’s founding campaign.

The 24-year-old was one of just five players to span both the inaugural 2024-25 roster and the current Gainbridge Super League squad. Her exit follows a period of significant roster evolution under head coach Ali Rogers, as the Florida-based side pushes for a playoff spot in the second half of the season.

Christopher joined Fort Lauderdale in May 2024 following a stellar collegiate career at Towson University, where she finished as the program’s second all-time leading goal scorer.

In South Florida, she quickly established herself as a reliable rotational option, making 13 appearances during the inaugural season. Highlights of her tenure included earning her first professional start against Carolina Ascent FC in September 2024 and recording a pivotal assist in a 3-1 victory over Lexington SC just weeks later.

Despite her professional conduct, Christopher was frequently an unused substitute in recent months as the team looked toward different attacking options. In a statement, the club expressed its sincere gratitude for her time in South Florida.

“Fort Lauderdale United FC thanks Nia for her contributions and professionalism during her time with the club and wishes her the best in her future career.”

With the Super League season entering its final stretch, the Bermudian international will now look for a fresh challenge as she continues to develop her career on the professional stage.
