Bermuda’s remarkable run comes to an end in Fort Lauderdale

Bermuda’s senior pickleball squad has seen its incredible World Cup journey come to an end, falling to Israel in the round of 16 at the 2025 Pickleball World Cup in Fort Lauderdale.
The over-50 team had already made history, defying the odds to defeat China, Serbia, and Trinidad and Tobago in group play — before ousting Chile in the round of 32 to secure a place among the tournament’s final sixteen nations.

Val Stevenson and Tori Powell gave Bermuda the perfect start, edging out a tight opener 21–19 to put the island on the scoreboard. But Israel soon found its rhythm, sweeping the men’s doubles and both mixed doubles matches to claim an unassailable 3–1 lead and a spot in the quarterfinals.
