Wells & Luton shared points with league leaders

Luton Town claim hard-earned point after Taylor volleys equaliser for League One leaders Huddersfield Town

Nahki Wells and Luton Town were denied a fifth consecutive league victory but came away from the John Smith’s Stadium with a hard-earned point against League One leaders Huddersfield Town.

In an entertaining clash between two in-form sides, the Hatters broke the deadlock on the stroke of half-time when Jordan Clark clinically tucked away his sixth goal of the campaign.

Huddersfield, defending an unbeaten home record this season, hit back three minutes after the interval as former Luton forward Joe Taylor volleyed past James Shea.

Wells came within inches of snatching all three points against his former club with 13 minutes remaining, rising well in the penalty area only to steer his header marginally over the crossbar.

Hatters boss Jack Wilshere introduced a late triple substitution in search of a decider, but the home side held firm to ensure the points were shared.
