It has been a tumultuous two days for Bermuda’s footballers in England, highlighted by a dramatic cup comeback and a derby duel.
Nahki Wells was the central figure in a chaotic FA Cup Second Round tie where his Luton Town side narrowly edged out National League side Forest Green 4-3. Wells scored two goals as the Hatters took a commanding 3-0 lead, but Forest Green staged a stunning fightback to sensationally level the contest. It took an injury-time winner from substitute Gideon Kodua to seal Luton’s dramatic place in the next round.
Elsewhere in the FA Cup, Nathan Trott and his Cardiff City teammates bowed out, falling 1-0 away to Peterborough United. Meanwhile, the Bermudian duo of Deniche Hill and Keziah Martin will need a replay to advance after their Buxton United FC side drew 1-1 with Chatham Town.
In league action, Milan Butterfield delivered an outstanding performance against his compatriot, Reggie Lambe. Butterfield was named the Man of the Match as his Halesowen Town side defeated Lambe’s Needham Market 2-0 in the Southern League Premier Central derby. Goalkeeper Dale Eve secured a crucial shutout in a 1-0 victory for Coleshill Town in their Northern Premier League match. Other results saw Willie Clemons’ Leiston FC fall 2-1 and Binfield FC, featuring Coleridge Fubler, Reese Jones Jr, and Razhir Smith-Jones, lose 1-0.
