Bermuda squash teams secure impressive victories on Day Five of CASA

Day five of the Caribbean Area Squash Association’s (CASA) Senior Championships in Guyana saw the focus remain firmly on the team competitions, with both the Bermuda Men’s and Women’s teams securing dominant victories over strong regional opponents.

The Bermuda Men’s team defeated Jamaica 11-6, securing the tie through dominance in the top three matches. Micah Franklin continued his strong form, winning in straight sets (11-5, 13-11, 11-3) against Jonathan Walker. Taylor Carrick (11-9, 11-7, 11-6) and Noah Browne (11-6, 11-4, 11-5) also secured straight-sets victories. Despite losses from Anaya Smith and D’vario Thompson, the early wins sealed the result.

The Bermuda Women’s team achieved a remarkable 9-2 victory over Trinidad & Tobago, despite only fielding three players. Melina Turk led the way with a straight-sets win (11-8, 11-7, 11-9). Alex Furtado also secured a comprehensive straight-sets victory (11-4, 11-3, 11-2). The tie was secured by a hard-fought five-set win from Abigail Brewer over Kimberley Farah (11-4, 11-3, 9-11, 6-11, 11-7), showcasing the team’s immense resilience.

Both victories highlight the quality of the Bermuda squash contingent on the regional stage.
