The past weekend proved a fantastic showcase for Bermuda’s emerging golf talent, with several junior players clinching major titles across the island, underscoring the strength of the island’s youth programmes.
Seventeen-year-old Oliver Betschart captured the biggest headline by winning the Port Royal Club Championship for the second time in his young career. Equally impressive was 16-year-old Arman Newton, who secured the title at the Tucker’s Point Club Championship.
Juniors also dominated the gross divisions at the Thanksgiving Challenge on the Hill:
- Seventeen-year-old Johnny Bart secured the victory in the Blue Division.
- Twelve-year-old Lewis MacFarlane was crowned the champion of the White Division, highlighting talent in the younger age brackets.
Adding to the family’s success, 14-year-old Darina Betschart put in a superb performance at the Port Royal Club Championship, finishing as the runner-up in the Ladies Division against senior competition. The weekend’s results signal a bright future for competitive golf in Bermuda.
