Maranzana and Mewett gain valuable international experience at Youth Olympic Games in Senegal

Bermudian swimmers Noah Maranzana and Maggie Mewett gained further top-tier international experience as preliminary competition continued at the 2026 Youth Olympic Games in Dakar.
Taking to the outdoor pool at the Complexe Tour de l’Oeuf, Maranzana lined up in lane four for the opening heat of the men’s 100m breaststroke. The teenager touched the wall in 1:18.02 to finish runner-up in his heat, ranking 25th overall in the morning standings.
Moments later, Mewett stepped onto the blocks in lane eight for heat four of the women’s 100m breaststroke. Up against a competitive international field, she clocked 1:25.36 to take eighth place, securing 22nd overall across the heats.
The performances marked another vital test on the global stage for the pair, who form part of Bermuda’s contingent competing in Senegal at the first Olympic event staged on African soil.
