Bermudian midfielder Enriqué Mendes has secured a major breakthrough, sealing a high-profile transfer to NCAA Division I program Chicago State University.
The 19-year-old will link up with the Cougars this August for his sophomore year, stepping up into the elite tier of US university soccer after a stellar freshman campaign at Husson University in Maine.
Mendes quickly became an indispensable asset for the Husson Eagles, dictating the tempo from the engine room. By the conclusion of the autumn schedule, he led the entire roster in both total assists and minutes played, earning a prestigious spot on the All-Conference team.
Mirroring his tactical maturity on the pitch, Mendes excelled in the classroom, maintaining an elite 3.7 Grade Point Average (GPA). This high academic standard made him a highly coveted target in the transfer portal.
The move to Chicago State will expose the playmaking midfielder to a significantly higher caliber of opposition. Pre-season camp opens in August, where Mendes will look to carry his clinical form onto the NCAA Division I stage.
