Loyal Hill Playground has a brand new look thanks to a donation from the Bermuda International Long Term Insurers and Reinsurers or BILTIR.
15 BILTIR members contributed over $100,000 to rebuild the playground situated on the Railway Trail along Northshore Road in Devonshire
Area MP Diallo Rabain, Senators Mischa Fubler and Lindsay Simmons, and the Director of Sport and Recreation Charryse Bean, were also present for a ribbon cutting ceremony recently.
Suzanne Williams-Charles, CEO of BILTIR said, “the local talent in Bermuda is what drives our global reinsurance business, and the Loyal Hill Playground is our gift back to the community that has helped make BILTIR the organization it is today.”
The parties who donated to the project are all reinsurance companies with local Bermuda offices and include Athene, Chubb, Dai-ichi Re, Hannover Re, Monument Re, Pacific Life Re, Wilton Re, Agam Bermuda Ltd, Kuvare Re, Legal & General, Martello Re, SFG Bermuda Ltd, Soteria Re, Symetra Bermuda Re, and American Fidelity.
Horsefield Landscape was responsible for the design and execution of the project’s construction, according to a news release.
Ms. Williams-Charles added, “It’s our responsibility to support our community and this playground provides a space for local families to come together and enjoy time with their loved ones.”
The idea for the playground was sparked by BILTIR Board Member and CEO of Wilton Re Bermuda Sylvia Oliveria.
Ms. Oliveria stated, “The playground stands as a testimony to what’s possible when international businesses, the government, and the local community work together.
“The children’s smiles speak volumes about the ripple effects of this collaboration.”
