Premier Burt attended his final JMC meeting with Overseas Territories in London last week

The printing of Bermuda Overseas territories passport is unlikely to return to the island.
Premier David Burt said the U.K. government is steadfast in its position of retaining control over printing Overseas Territories passports, citing security as a primary reason.
Despite delays in passport renewals reported by locals, there has a reduction in turn around times down from 20 weeks to 6 weeks, and the premier, who has been in London for high-level talks, says Bermuda might be in a better position than our sister territories.
It was Premier Burt’s final appearance as chair of the Joint Ministerial Council as head of the Bermuda Government.
We asked about Bermuda’s future in the JMC given his Progressive Labour Party’s ultimate desire to move towards independance from the U.K.
