Housing Minister and Construction boss Zane De Silva has pledged transparency over any public funds which come his way due to Government-led efforts to increase the housing stock.
He said this after tabling a ten-year housing strategy in the House of Assembly today.
The first phase of developments, using precast building components from overseas, are expected to break ground shortly.
Minister De Silva highlighted a sense of urgency over the matter, saying he had received calls from people desperate for housing.
Our Gary Foster Skelton pressed the Minister on the lack of Requests for Proposals, and the seemingly limited procurement processes around the current plans.
Ultimately, we asked if there should be much higher scrutiny over projects since he is not only the Minister in charge of directing funds, but a construction boss who could potentially see work coming his way.
He said he would be transparent about any private gains.
