Attorney General Senator Kim Wilkerson, Minister of Justice and Tinee Furbert, Minister of Youth, Social Development and Seniors held a joint press conference outlining critical actions to tackle domestic abuse

A new Domestic Violence Act could be tabled before next summer.
It would bring behaviours such as coercive control and other abuses under a single act.
Senator Kim Wilkerson, Attorney General and Minister of Justice, made the announcement today during a joint press conference with Minister of Youth Social Development and Seniors Tinee Furbert.
They highlighted various initiatives, as Domestic Violence Awareness Month draws to a close.
The Ministry of Youth, Social Development and Seniors has provided the Centre Against Abuse with $150,000 and $75,000 has been given to the Transformational Living Centre to assist families seeking temporary housing when fleeing violence in the home.
Minister Furbert said a new rehabilitation programme to prevent re-offending and address underlying behaviours will be launched soon.
