Don’t be complacent about Tropical Storm Gabrielle


Tropical Storm Gabrielle is now a potential threat to the Island to the Island


At last check the storm was located approximately 1,000 miles southeast of Bermuda, but is forecast to move in our general direction and possibly approach our general area next week.  Qian Dickinson spoke with Michelle Pitcher, Former Director of the Bermuda Weather Service for a more in-depth forecast.



Complacency.  A word we hear often during hurricane season.  Michelle Pitcher urges residents to stay prepared and updated as the current the forecasted track and intensity of the storm can change.



In preparation for potential impacts of Tropical Storm Gabrielle, BELCO is monitoring the latest developments and is prepared should the storm impact Bermuda.

BELCO President Wayne Caines said: “BELCO is monitoring the development of tropical storm Gabrielle carefully and taking the appropriate action to be prepared should the storm impact Bermuda. We have had several threats from storms this season but thankfully we have been spared direct impacts. I urge residents to not let their guard down and prepare now for potential storm conditions. I encourage all residents and businesses in Bermuda to review their own hurricane safety plans as well as tips and advice on the BELCO website and social media channels to keep their family and property safe should we be impacted by this storm next week.”
