Future Leaders Bermuda has officially launched its 2026 Summer Induction Programme, welcoming 16 students from Bermuda’s public and private schools for three weeks of academic study, hands-on learning and community service.
Running from August 3 to 21, the programme encourages participants to explore Bermuda’s social and civic challenges while developing the skills to become future leaders. Students will study topics including poverty, crime and inequality, leadership, social justice and entrepreneurship, while completing 90 hours of community service and co-curricular activities.
Speaking at the launch, Premier David Burt said learning from Bermudians who have made meaningful contributions to the island helps young people recognise the value of their own potential and encourages them to make a positive impact in their communities.
Assistant Director Seon Tatem also announced a major expansion of the initiative. Graduates of the Summer Induction Programme will now automatically enter a mandatory three-year mentorship programme through 2029, where they will receive guidance from senior alumni and staff in areas including wealth, careers, relationships, health and personal development.
The press conference concluded with participant Yemaya Iris of Somersfield Academy, who said she hopes to help build a Bermuda where every young person has equal opportunities to reach their full potential.
