The King and Queen made a grand, sci-fi-inspired entrance to kick off the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games, stepping out of Doctor Who’s iconic Tardis as the 11-day sporting spectacle officially opened.
Their Majesties took center stage at a sell-out OVO Hydro arena in Glasgow, blending Scottish culture and Commonwealth tradition to set a theatrical, energetic tone for the Games.
More than 3,000 athletes representing 74 nations and territories have converged on Scotland to compete across 10 sports and six integrated Para sports.
As the delegation parade got underway, Bermuda’s contingent marched into the arena in proud fashion:
Flagbearer: Tiara Derosa carried the Bermuda flag into the Hydro arena.
Batonbearer: Sprinter Caitlyn Bobb brought in the King’s Baton following its epic global journey.
Team Leadership: The procession was anchored by Chef-de-Mission Donna Raynor and Assistant Chef-de-Mission Jarita Vickers.
The dynamic indoor ceremony officially launched almost two weeks of elite international competition, with Bermudian athletes set to make their mark on the global stage.
