Emma Harvey’s Commonwealth Games campaign came to an end in the semi-finals of the women’s 50m backstroke after another impressive display in the pool.
The Bermudian booked her place in the evening session by finishing fifth in Heat Four, touching the wall in 29.20 seconds to advance comfortably to the semi-finals.
Harvey returned later in the day and produced an even quicker swim, lowering her time to 29.13 seconds in the opening semi-final. However, despite the improvement, she finished seventh in the race, placing 14th overall and narrowly missing out on a spot in the final.
The result capped another encouraging performance from the Bermudian, who once again demonstrated her ability to compete against a high-quality international field.
Although her medal challenge ended in the semi-finals, Harvey’s faster evening swim highlighted her consistency and competitive form throughout the championships, providing another positive chapter in Bermuda’s Commonwealth Games swimming campaign.
