Imelda: Winds could double in strength tonight

‘Sting jet’ phenomenon could lead to stronger hurricane winds, BWS advises – but as long as we’re prepared, we should be safe and sound

It’s going to be noisy night as Hurricane Imelda passes over Bermuda.

Winds from the south southwest in the early evening could reach 40 miles per hour, with 60 mph gusts – but after the eye passes, the overnight winds from the north could nearly double in strength.
