BELCO’s Shelly Leman said a majority of the 1,500 customers impacted have had power restored
BELCO crews have been working to restore two transformers that were struck in today’s lightning strikes.
Hundreds of customers were affected.
At about 10.15am, a severe weather squall passed the island.
There were reported lightning strikes on Hermitage Road, in Smith’s affecting 1,500 customers and First Avenue in Devonshire impacting 30 customers.
Ferrar’s Lane in Pembroke was also impacted where 30 customers had a power outage.
Shelly Leman, the Managing Director of TD&R at BELCO is encouraging everyone to exercise caution during extreme weather events to ensure their safety.
