A batting masterclass from Rishabh Shimpi and T Lamey inspired King’s College Taunton to a comprehensive 131-run victory over local rivals Millfield School CC on Wednesday.
After being put into bat at King’s College, the hosts delivered a clinical display to post a formidable total of 271. The innings was defined by two exceptional centuries; Rishabh Shimpi anchored the effort with a brilliant 102, while T Lamey matched the feat with a blistering 100.
Bermudian prospect Luke Horan provided a late cameo, chipping in with 6 at the tail end of the innings. Despite the run-fest, Millfield’s Theo Walker remained a constant threat, producing a standout individual performance with the ball to claim 5 for 35 from his 8.1 overs.
Millfield’s pursuit of 272 never quite gained the necessary momentum. Coby Campbell offered the most resistance for the visitors, top-scoring with 48, but the King’s College bowling attack proved too disciplined under pressure.
Ruben S was the pick of the bowlers, dismantling the Millfield lineup with figures of 4 for 23 from six overs. He was well-supported by Horan, who maintained a tight line throughout his seven-over spell, returning figures of 2 for 30 to help bundle the visitors out for 140.
