Minister Weeks briefed on Regiment readiness

Ahead of UK training camp

The Minister of National Security, Michael Weeks, visited Warwick Camp on Wednesday to receive a briefing on the operational readiness of the Royal Bermuda Regiment ahead of the unit’s upcoming overseas training camp in the UK.

Minister Weeks, accompanied by Permanent Secretary Lt. Col. Edward Lamb, toured the facility with Commanding Officer Lt. Col. Duncan Simons as part of an ongoing series of visits to departments under the Ministry of National Security.

During the visit, Regiment leadership provided updates on training, staffing, recruitment, infrastructure and youth development, as well as preparations for public order and weapons training scheduled to take place in the UK.

Discussions also focused on the work of the Royal Bermuda Regiment Coast Guard as Bermuda enters the busy boating and hurricane seasons.

Minister Weeks said the Regiment continues to play a critical role in supporting Bermuda through disaster response, maritime safety, ceremonial duties and community service.

He thanked Regiment personnel for their continued service, adding that their contribution to Bermuda remains “significant, impactful and valued.”
