Bermuda is bringing home gold from the Jamaica International Pickleball Open!
National team captain Gavin Manders and vice captain Benjamin Jones outplayed higher-ranked opponents in a series of nail-biting matches to claim the top spot.
Jones, who’s gearing up to represent Bermuda at next month’s World Cup, credited their win to smart strategy and staying cool under pressure.
In addition to competing in the men’s doubles, Gavin Manders made it to the quarterfinals in mixed doubles and the semifinals in singles.
And while taking gold in men’s doubles may have offered a bit of payback for Bermuda’s recent football loss to Jamaica, Manders says this win was about more than revenge — it was about proving Bermuda’s place as a dominant force in regional pickleball.
