Record-breaking Morris claims magnificent hurdling double in New York

Bermudian standout David Morris delivered an outstanding performance in technical hurdling to spearhead a highly successful campaign for The Masters School at the 2026 NYSAIS Outdoor Championships.

Competing at New York’s high-performance Icahn Stadium, the versatile speed specialist cleanly captured two individual titles against the elite of the state’s independent school circuit.

Morris opened his account in the blue-ribbon Men’s Varsity 110m Hurdles, utilizing an explosive start and flawless barrier transitions to stop the clock in a blistering, personal-best time of 15.43 seconds. Despite a strong 3.6m/s tailwind, the sheer technical authority of his victory was undeniable.

The definitive highlight arrived in the grueling 400m Hurdles. Maintaining a relentless tempo around the far curve, Morris dug deep into his physical reserves as his competitors faded under the toll of lactic acid. He crossed the line in a magnificent 56.16 seconds, capturing his second gold of the day, smashing his previous personal best, and setting a brand-new school record.

The double-podium achievement caps off a legendary outdoor campaign for Morris, establishing a perfect physical baseline ahead of his summer international targets.
