Area MP and residents hail transformation of historic swim spot

Sandy’s Dock on North Shore Road has received a major facelift as part of a multi-thousand-dollar upgrade.
Unveiling the completed works today, Minister of Public Works and Environment Jache Adams says the project is an investment in the community.
According to Minister Adams, the upgrades came in at just under $80,000 dollars.
Pembroke East MP, Minister Owen Darrell, says the public dock, which became somewhat of an eyesore, was one of the top concerns raised by residents when he was elected.
He says seeing the transformation has exceeded his expectations.
Meanwhile, residents told us the dock holds special meaning for many in the area, especially those who learned to swim there as children.
The Progressive Labour Party is inviting the Pembroke East community to a summer party on Sunday at Sandy’s Dock from 2 pm to 5 pm to celebrate the revamped space.
