Richardson and Olander conquer Southshore Trails

The Fattire Massive mountain biking season burst into life with the demanding Southshore Beach Trails race, delivering high drama and setting a fierce pace for the year ahead.

The men’s premier Open 60 Minutes Male race was decided by mere seconds. Che’quan Richardson was declared the winner, completing 11 gruelling laps in 1 hour, 5 minutes, and 16 seconds (1:05:16). He fought off a relentless challenge from Kavin Smith (1:05:44) and Brian Steinhoff (1:05:54), with just ten seconds separating the top three finishers after an hour of intense racing.

In the Open 60 Minutes Female Division, Panzy Olander dominated the event, riding to a convincing victory by completing 9 laps in 1:04:56. Jennifer Wilson secured second place two laps down (1:00:24), with Skye Ferguson taking third (7 laps in 1:03:18).

The shorter sprints were also decided quickly: William Coatesworth won the Open 30 Minutes Male race in 30:47, narrowly beating Manning Smith (31:33) and Sherman O. Darrell (31:39). In the Open 30 Minutes Female category, Olivia Bishop took the victory, clocking a winning time of 36:33. The strong performances across all divisions set a high standard for the competitive mountain biking season.
