Those interested in applying to join the Government’s ridesharing program are asked to check their eligibility ahead of the application period opening at the end of the month.
The Transport Ministry has advised the online ridesharing application process will open on April 30th, closing on May 14th.
Up to 150 ridesharing permits will be issued through a randomised selection process. A spokesperson said applicants are not guaranteed selection.
To be eligible for a ridesharing license, applicants must hold a public service vehicle license.
They add that license holders of heavy truck or community service vehicles, alone, do not qualify.
A Ministy spokesperson said the introduction of ridesharing is meant to ‘complement the existing taxi industry’ by offering alternative services during peak demand.
To register to become PSVL holder, you can apply through the TCD online portal at transportcontrol.gov.bm.
Minister of Tourism & Transport, Culture & Sport, Owen Darrell, said: “Ridesharing forms an important part of our broader efforts to modernise Bermuda’s transport network and improve service availability, particularly during periods of high demand.
“We encourage those interested to ensure they meet the eligibility requirements and are prepared to apply within the designated timeframe.”
