Bermudian equestrian Tyler James delivered a series of standout performances at North Carolina’s Tryon International Equestrian Center, securing a division championship title alongside strong finishes in national derby competition.
Riding under the guidance of coach Wendy Arndt and Team I.E.C. across a two-week stretch from July 7 to 19, James demonstrated remarkable consistency across both jumper and hunter disciplines.
The highlight of the series came in the 1.20m Amateur division, where James debuted a fresh partnership with Case Closed 441.
Despite it being their first competitive outing together, the pair adapted immediately:
Division Rounds: Secured top-two finishes (1st & 2nd)
Accolade: Crowned 1.20m Division Champion on debut
James also made his presence felt in the prestigious USHJA National Hunter Derby, taking on a stacked field of 27 riders aboard Vino Blanco. A clinical round saw the pair narrowly miss out on the top spot, claiming an impressive 2nd-place finish.
Building on his established track record, James added further success with trusty partner Cruise Control, navigating another demanding course to secure a respectable 6th-place finish in the Derby.
