Man arrested on suspicion of DUI

Around 3:19 a.m. on Saturday, August 8, 2026, police received multiple reports of a serious road traffic collision involving an SUV and a motor ca, near the junction of Cataract Hill and South Road, Paget.
Police and other first responders were dispatched to the scene and upon arrival, found the female motor car driver trapped inside the vehicle.
She had to be extricated with the assistance of Bermuda Fire and Rescue Services personnel. She was eventually removed from the vehicle about half an hour later, having sustained leg and hip injuries.
She was subsequently transported by ambulance to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital, for treatment if her injuries, which are considered life-threatening.
The male driver of the SUV was subsequently arrested on suspicion of driving whilst impaired by alcohol or drugs
and conveyed to Hamilton Police Station where he was detained. He did not report any injuries.
Traffic diversions were put in place while the scene was forensically processed, with westbound vehicles diverted onto middle Road at the Padget stoplights. Eastbound traffic was diverted at the junction of South Road and Southcote Road.
