Costa Rica victory over the Dominican Republic hands Team Bermuda a berth in the final round of World Cup qualifying in Mexico.
After losing to Puerto Rico in Group A, Team Bermuda’s destiny in World Cup qualifying was placed in the hands of opponents playing several hundred miles away.
Mathematically still in with a chance to qualify for round two in Mexico, the Lady Warrior’s fate would solely depend on the outcome of the Group F match played on Saturday evening in Santo Domingo, between the Dominican Republic and Costa Rica.
Based on points and goal difference, Bermuda would be guaranteed to go through no matter who won or lost as long as the final score was not 4 all.
When the final whistle blew signaling the end of the match, relief turned to jubilation for the Lady Gombey Warriors. For with Costa Rica’s 3-0 victory over the Dominicans, Team Bermuda has scored a ticket to Mexico for the final round of qualifying for the FIFA World Cup.
