Brianna Ray’s historic ambition of becoming the first woman ever selected for Bermuda’s legendary Cup Match Classic may have to share the spotlight, but the fiercely competitive all-rounder insists her cricket dreams remain firmly on track.
Ray has been named to the Bermuda Longtails senior women’s national netball team for the 2026 Central American and Caribbean (CAC) Games in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.
While a grueling international netball tournament would force most to choose, Ray has issued a defiant message to anyone writing off her mid-summer cricket aspirations.
“No dreams are gone in the cricketing department! I’ve been working really hard to be able to keep my body fit and healthy to be training both. I am still putting 100% of myself into both cricket and netball.”
A quirk in the summer sporting calendar has kept the ultimate dual-sport fairy tale alive. Because the national netball delegation departs the Saturday after the annual cricket classic, the door remains wide open for Ray to make history on the pitch before flying out to court.
Whether anchoring an innings with the bat or driving through the mid-court under grueling regional heat, Ray’s relentless work ethic is completely rewriting the playbook for modern Bermudian athletes.
